The Funeral OF Arthur Brown

The funeral of Arthur Brown
Outside a church in Swindon town
Started out a sombre affair
That changed when Arthur’s first wife was there
Arthur’s widow approached her and said
“It’s your fault that my Arthur’s dead!”
“I hate you, you stupid cow!”
“I’m gonna get even somehow”
The two women started to fight each other
It was all too much for Arthur’s mother
She fainted there and then
revived by her friend Ken
The two women were carried off screaming
And then the rain started pouring
And the vicar was heard to say
“I’ve had enough! Let’s call it a day”

A Boy’s fear

A boy aged 6 or 7
Has to see the dentist at 11
AS the time draws ever near
So he starts to fear
Fear the needle and the drill
He starts to sweat and feels ill
His face a picture of gloom
In the dentists waiting room
The dentist walks in “James Smith enter please”
James wants the racing thoughts to cease
He sits down in the dentist’s chair
He’s nervous, but the dentist seems not to care
He has an x=ray
it shows up as tooth decay
So a filling is necessary
James is anxious can’t help but worry
The needle is long and in it goes
Then the drill ,but James hears the song on the radio
He is relaxed and doesn’t notice the pain
And then the drill again and again
James bravery doesn’t go unnoticed
THen he’s reassured by the dentist
“You should be fine if you follow my advice”
“Brush your teeth every day, not once, but twice”
“And less sugar in your diet”
The boy leaves. He is so quiet
He returns home, his mouth still numb
By the way, South London’s where he’s from!the dentist

War Orphans

I wonder, what becomes
Of all those war orphans
To lose both parents was their fate
Help must come before it’s too late
They’ve suffered so much don’t make them wait
For they have enough on their plate
War orphans, emotionally scarred by the battle
War orphans, they really need somewhere to settle
War orphans, they need shelter and peace of mind
War orphans, to them,we need to show kindness
War orphans we know all about your plight
War orphans, hope may be in sight
War orphans, a human tragedy
War orphans let’s ease their misery
For, reaching out to the traumatised and impoverished
Makes our priviliged society feel emotionally enriched
War orphans making the evening news
What happens to them when all hell breaks loose?
War orphans cry
War orphans try
to make sense of it all
Their situation, so awful
We must listen to the war orphans when they call out
Helping them through the pain barrier is what it’s all about
If the world, it assists them , then they must be in with a shout
But if the world ignores them, they’ll surely perish no doubt
Yes, what becomes
of the war orphans
once the t.v crews have left the scene
To forget the war orphans would be mean
War orphans
War orphans…..war orphans

Another Day, Another Riot

another riot
You just knew on the streets of late it had been too quiet
All of a sudden, Another day, Another riot
Won’t you prepare yourself to engage in battle
With the riot police in Athens or Seattle
Caracas or London, Played out on television
Will it be tear gas this time or maybe water cannon
Another day, Another riot to quell
Surrounded and rounded up like cattle
Another day, Another riot on the streets of Brazil
Rioting for justice to upstage Neymar’s ball skills
at the F.I.F.A world cup finals…..
Another day, Another riot somewhere in the world
