He was a well-meaning gent
who resided near Dover in Kent
His trips to Calais were frequent
His time in the hypermarket well spent
He was in his element…left all alone
with his trolley, in the aisles of cheese and cologne
The checkout girl sure was swell
A beautiful and sensual mademoiselle
He introduced himself “I’m John, the accountant who’s not boring!
And if we become lovers, under the covers, I won’t be snoring!
I’m not into that…
or idle chit-chat.”
Soon, they would rendezvous at a cafe in Calais
With champagne and roses he swept her away
He would bring a smile to the lips of the girl from the hypermarket
By comparing her looks to that of a Turner sunset
John was quite dashing
and Sylvie was ravishing
He would say to her charmingly, “The highlight of my week
is to sit in this Calais cafe with you and plant a kiss on your cheek.”
Soon John and Sylvie
were married in Normandy
the ceremony sealed with a loving kiss
their life thereafter was one of sheer bliss
Never did their life hit the skids
and they had 2.5 perfect kids
She gave up her old job in the Calais hypermarket
for a career in photography
‘Though she missed the routine of the environment where they met
She was happy with her new life in pretty….Cherbourg
